UNREQUITED LOVE

You always look at all the other boys,
You never look at me.
You pass me by and you ignore my voice,
Why will you never see?

You will make them smile; you will take their hands,
You spend your time with them,
But you never seem to have time for me.
I hope you will, but when?

I always have to watch you from afar,
You never let me near.
Being close to you is my only wish
Rejection’s what I fear.

All the others tell me how they love you
And how you treat them well.
You take them wherever they want to go.
They’re in heaven, I’m in hell.

I look at you and try to catch your eye,
Hope you return my glance.
You always seem to want to be with them,
Will you give me a chance?

I ask the boys to tell you about me,
You act like I’m not there.
I walk up to you but you turn away,
Will you show me you care?

I try my best but you never notice,
It means nothing to you.
The love I have for you, I cannot share,
Tell me, what can I do?

I want you to know that I am alive,
I want to be with you,
I want you to treat me like the others,
I want you to want me too.

Why do you refuse to notice me?
What have I done wrong?
Mummy, why don’t you love me?
Why won’t you let me belong?
....
